Our Danish Oil has been formulated to prime, seal and finish any wood surface as well as re-oiling wood for maintenance. A time tested and proven blend of natural oils and resins, it penetrates deep into all interior and exterior wood and dries to provide a hard, durable, but highly attractive satin finish.
The natural finish provided with the application of Danish Oil provides water resistance to all bare woods helping reduce staining and making the wood easier to clean and maintain. This protects and enhances the natural beauty of your wood and does not leave a surface film that is chip or scratch with use. Incredibly versatile, Danish Oil may also be used as a primer before painting or varnishing.
Compliant with Articles In Contact With Food regulations, Danish Oil is also ideal for the treatment of wooden furniture and utensils used in the kitchen and dining areas, where contact with food, spills and exposure to water and other liquids are a frequent hazard to unprotected surfaces.
Furniture Clinic Danish Oil is completely safe and highly effective when used on all types of wood, including oak, teak, mahogany and pine. The incredibly versatile formula is also suitable for use on both internal and external wood, bringing out the beauty of the natural grain in:
Kitchen cupboards, worktops and food preparation surfaces
Untreated timber and turned or carved woodwork
Below are the colour effects by different Furniture Clinic's oils and waxes products on Oak and Walnut:
Shake well before use and ensure surface to be treated is sanded smooth and is completely clean and dry before application, removing any wax, dirt or other contaminants.
For previously coated timber, ensure previous paints, waxes and varnishes are removed using a suitable medium. To ensure previous coatings are completely removed simply wipe the surface with water. If the water continues to bead on the surface of the wood, repeat the removal process.
Apply Danish Oil liberally to a clean, Lint Free Cloth and wipe onto the surface following the direction of the grain. Once the surface has been treated, leave to penetrate for a two to three minutes and wipe away any excess oil with the same cloth used to apply.
Leave to dry for four to six hours and apply two more coats to the wood. Two more coats should be applied after the first, leaving the full four to six hours drying time between each coat to ensure the previous application has completely dried before applying the next.
Re-apply once per year or as necessary for high use areas.
